Dear team,
thanks for this fantastic resource. I would like to ask for offering the ability to obtain DOIs for huggingface spaces, similar to how it is possible for datasets. The rationale is the following:
I am the lead developer of the extremely popular scientific workflow management tool Snakemake, which creates HTML based static reports that connect research results with the used code an parameters in an interactive way. So far, best practice for publishing these reports is to attach a zip archive with them as a supplementary file to research manuscript or upload it to the zenodo. In both cases, while it is secured “forever” under a DOI, it is not immediately accessible because one first has to download and unpack it. Huggingface spaces could change this, allowing people to see the report in rendered form immediately when they browse to the corresponding DOI.
Snakemake is not the only tool that generates static HTML reports (also Alignoth, Datavzrd, MultiQC, SnpEff, …). Thus the benefit for the scientific community in general would be quite substantial.
I believe the change in the codebase would perhaps be relatively small since Huggingface already offers DOIs for e.g. datasets.
Best,
Johannes
